Three University graduate arrested for arm robbery

Three University graduates
have been arrested in Ogun
State for allegedly snatching
a car in Lagos.
The Ogun State Police
Command Public Relations
Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who
disclosed this to PREMIUM
TIMES on Monday, said the
arrest of the suspects was
jointly carried out by the
police and OP MESA attached
to 35 Artillery Brigade
Alamala Abeokuta.
“The joint operation teams of
the Ogun State Police
Command and OP MESA
attached to 35 Artillery
Brigade Alamala Abeokuta
have intercepted and
arrested a gang of young
graduates that robbed and
snatched a Toyota Highlander
Jeep at Festac Town Lagos on
February 4th at Ibafo area of
Ogun State about 8.30pm
same day,” he said.
Mr. Adejobi said the
suspected armed robbers who
were on top speed after the
operation along Lagos-Ibadan
expressway were intercepted
by the joint operation teams
who were on their routine
patrol along the same
expressway.
“The teams forced the moving
vehicle to stop when they
noticed the suspicious
attitude of the occupants who
were eventually found to be
armed robbers,” Mr. Adejobi
stated.
He said the suspected armed
robbers kidnapped the owner
of the snatched car before
they dropped him along the
road having used him to
operate the security device
fixed on the car.
“The vehicle was demobilized
and stopped at a point along
the expressway but the suspects hired
the services of a rewire (technician) to
start the engine again, and continued
their movement before the arrest”.
The police spokesperson said the
suspects have confessed to the crime and
are helping the police in their
investigation.
He said the Acting Commissioner of
Police, Haliru Gwandu, has ordered the
case be transferred to Lagos State Police
Command where the robbery incident
took place for proper investigation.
“He then commended the joint operation
teams of the Police and Nigerian Army
for the good job and charged other
operational outfits in the state to add
more pep in achieving adequate security
of lives and property in Ogun State,” he
