Recession-Dangote sack 48 members

Recession? Dangote sacks 48
workers
The current recession rocking the Nigerian
economy has hit one of the biggest employers
of labour in the country outside of the
government as the Dangote Group, belonging to
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has fired 48
members of staff.
Punch gathered that those sacked were made
up of 36 expatriate and 12 Nigerian workers
from the group’s headquarters and one of the
subsidiaries, Dangote Cement Plc.
Though no official of the group was willing to
speak on the matter on Sunday, a Punch
correspondents gathered from highly placed
sources that the decision to sack the workers
was not unconnected with the current high cost
of running business in the country occasioned
by the unavailability of foreign exchange and
the unprecedented hike in the naira to dollar
exchange rate.
It was further gathered that the huge amounts
in foreign currencies being paid to the
expatriate workers had become a burden on
Dangote due to the steady depreciation in the
value of the naira and the difficulties of raising
enough dollars.
Consequently, the industrialist, according to
sources, has decided to replace the expatriates
with Nigerians, who have acquired the requisite
experience on the job, as paying them in naira
will be less problematic.
For the affected Nigerians, it was gathered that
most of them had disciplinary issues, which
made it easy for the group to do away with
their services.
When contacted on Sunday, the Group Head,
Corporate Communications, Dangote Group,
Tony Chiejina, said he could not speak on the
development.
However, in a letter signed by the President/
Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Group, Aliko
Dangote, dated Thursday, October 20, 2016,the
firm stated that it was constrained to take the
“tough” decision as economic factors had
affected the cost of production.
The letter, which was titled: ‘Recent Retirement
Exercise’, however, appreciated those affected
for their contributions to the growth of the
group.
The letter read in part,
“This year has been a very challenging
year for us as a business. The
unavailability of foreign exchange
coupled with an unprecedented hike in
the exchange rate has resulted in
increased costs across the organisation.
On Friday, October 14, 2016, we began
the process of staff cutbacks as it is
imperative to review our human capital
deployment for the required cutbacks
that would ensure efficiency and
eliminate redundancies in the allocation
of human resources.
This first phase of this exercise involved
the cutback of 36 expatriate staff across
the Dangote Cement Plc and Dangote
Industries Limited, and 12 local staff
members in Dangote Industries Limited.
This called for a proper review and
adjustment of our costs across board to
ensure efficiency and effectiveness in
the deployment of our factors of
production in a bid to eliminate
redundancies that we know exist, which
resulted in some tough decisions, which
means losing staff, including some of
our colleagues.
As an organisation with international operations,
the group promised that it would continue to
review and restructure its human capital
deployment to ensure “optimal allocation of skill
sets and size of the workforce each function
requires.”
The group urged the workers to shun lateness,
improper dressing and other unsavoury
behaviours in the workplace.
Bloomberg had in its latest ‘Billionaire Index’
reported that Dangote had lost $5.4bn of his
fortune this year due to the fall in the value of
the naira and the decision of the Central Bank
of Nigeria to ration dollars to stem huge capital
outflows in the wake of Nigeria’s worst
economic crisis.
Dangote had recently urged the Federal
Government to sell off the Nigerian Liquefied
Natural Gas Company and other dormant but
huge capital-generating enterprises and reinvest
the proceeds in the economy to bring the
country out of the current economic recession
before the end of the fourth quarter.by chibabynaija1

I would have become a prostitute actress Hilda Tokubo confesses
Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo was in Lagos
recently where she ministered as a Pastor at
the Fresh Oil International Church. During her
sermon, she revealed some part of her past
that may be unknown to many. While speaking,
she said, “I was born with a silver spoon, but
death turned me poverty-stricken after my
father died when I was just nine. I turned away
from God at that point, because I felt
disappointed that despite how much my father
loved and served God, he still died.”...
She continued, “After my dad died, my
mother completely lost her mind. If she
were living in the US, I’m sure she would
have been diagnosed as a mental case.
You know, in Nigeria, we don’t consider
people mad until they have started
eating from dustbins. I rebelled against
God at that point, and I stopped going to
church at the age of nine.
“However, I was a very brilliant girl, and I got
admission into the university at the age of 16. I
became rascally and did what girls like that do.
I slept with a man, and I became pregnant. It
wasn’t the Holy-Spirit that impregnated me.
My mom was devastated and disappointed in
me because of that. I was also angry with her
because ‘her God’ killed my father, and we
stopped speaking to each other. One day, a
man came to me and said he needed a barge. I
didn’t know what it was, and he told me it was
used to store oil.
I then recalled that I had once seen a barge in
the compound opposite ours. I went to the
neighbour and told him I needed the barge. He
asked me what I needed it for, but I told him
not to worry. I told them to put the barge in
front of my mother’s house. At that point, the
man who told me he needed the barge came
back, and dropped sacks of money containing
N2m with my mom because I was in school at
that time.
Two weeks later, he returned with N500,000,
and I was dumbfounded. Before then, I had
never seen N100,000 together, but there I was
as a millionaire at 17, not knowing what to do
with the money. I would have become a
prostitute, but I became restless and challenged
destiny. Your life cannot change for the better
if you don’t challenge destiny. Even God
challenged destiny.”by chibabynaija1
Man kills wife and daughter because he could not feed them
A 40-year-old man from Okpoma village in Yala
Local Government Area, Cross River State,
Dominic Iyayi Ogar, has thrown his in-laws into
mourning following the gruesome murder of his
wife and their only daughter.
Ogar is alleged to have committed the dastardly
act on October 8, 2016 in Mpape, Abuja. Sunday
Sun reporter learnt from the Commissioner of
Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, Mr.
Mohammed Mustafa, that Ogar, who slept with
his wife and their only daughter on the same
bed, woke up suddenly in the middle of the
night, took a knife and stabbed both of them to
death, and they died instantly..
Mustafa said that Ogar then carried the corpses
of the dead 27-year-old wife, Omago and the
daughter, two-year-old Blessing to a nearby
nursery and primary school in the area; he
allegedly wrote a small note and dropped it
beside the corpses and then ran off to hide in
his farm.
His evil deed, however, came to light
when one of his neighbours, Destiny
Onwusuaka, noticed a trail of blood that
led to the door of the family house. In a
chat with Sunday Sun reporter,
Onwusuaka said: “It was around 7:00am
when I discovered stains of blood on the
floor and followed the trail to the door of
Ogar. When I looked into the room, I saw
a pool of blood but I didn’t see the
husband or the victims.
“It was later that I saw the two corpses where
the husband dropped them. I shouted and called
our neighbours. We then ran to the police to
report what we saw. We started searching for
the husband. It took four days before we found
him and arrested him in his farm on October 11,
2016.
Following the arrest of the suspect, the corpses
of the deceased were moved to the mortuary of
the National Hospital, Abuja.
At the Criminal Investigation Department of the
FCT Police Command, where he spoke with
Sunday Sun, Ogar said:
“I don’t have a job, I cannot feed my
family, I can only feed myself, and God
should forgive me for what I have done.
“I don’t know what came to my mind; it
was frustration that led me to stab my
wife and only daughter to enable me
survive in life.”
As it stands now, Mustafa said that Ogar’s
hope of surviving in life now lies at the
discretion of the court where he would soon be
arraigned to answer charges.by chibabynaija1

How a Chibok girl got 100 lashes
for refusing to marry Boko Haram
fighter
Freedom for the 21 Chibok girls released last
week by Boko Haram was as dramatic as their
seizure by the group over two years ago.
Nothing on Wednesday, October 12, the eve of
their release, suggested to them that the
freedom they had longed and prayed for was
around the corner.
Their abductors simply woke them up early in the
morning and got them lined up ,according to a
report yesterday by the CNN quoting a parent of
one of the girls.
Then, the terrorists began to read out the names
of the girls one by one.
What followed was the news that they would be
returning home to their loved ones.Just like that.
The parent, who asked not to be named for
safety concerns, also said that during their time
with Boko Haram, the girls were forced to build
their own basic shelter, using plastic bags for
roofing.
One of the Chibok schoolgirls, who refused to
marry a Boko Haram fighter, was told she would
be killed. Her abductors had a change of heart
and commuted her sentence to 100 lashes.by chibabynaija1

Landlord's son stabs tenant's wife;beats her comatose
Landlord’s son stabs tenant’s
wife; beats her comatose
Doctors at Araba Medical Hospital in Abule-Egba
area of Lagos are trying their best on a newly-
wedded woman, who was allegedly stabbed many
times by her landlord’s son for allowing a man,
considered as an enemy of the landlord, into her
apartment at Ishaga Street.
The visitor was said to have been banned from
entering the house by the landlord.
The victim, Mrs. Taiwo Kehinde, however,
expressed gratitude to God for bringing her out
of coma. According to her, “my landlord’s son,
Jimoh Yusuf, attacked me right inside my
apartment with broken bottles. My sin was that
my husband allowed one of his friends into our
apartment.
“I was returning from my shop last Friday, when I
met this family friend, Monday Michael, who lives
opposite us. He told me to leave the house that
my husband and our landlord’s son were
quarrelling. “I decided to go inside and change
into something else. The family friend left for his
house, while I entered our apartment. “I was
trying to change my wears when Jimoh barged
inside and started shouting.
He said ‘I have told you and your husband that I
don’t want to see that man (family friend)
anywhere close to this house. But you wouldn’t
obey. I am going to kill you before your husband
comes back’. “Before I knew it, he broke the
bottles in his hands and started stabbing me all
over my body, until I passed out. This is not the
first time he has beaten me. I am not his wife,
neither am I related to him.” Genesis Her
husband, Mayowa Kehinde, traced the genesis of
his problem with the suspect to the visit of
Michael, few hours before his wife was attacked.
He said: “My friend, Monday, came to visit me
that day. But when my landlord saw him, he
ordered him to leave his house, even when I tried
to explain that he was my visitor and that we
have known each other long before I moved into
his house. “I reluctantly saw my friend off at
about 9p.m. By then, my wife was not back. On
my way back, I was welcomed with shouts by my
neighbours to quickly rush in, that Jimoh wanted
to kill my wife. “When I rushed inside, my wife
was in a pool of her blood, while Jimoh still held
onto the broken bottles. I held him as he tried to
escape from the scene, while a woman rushed to
the police station to report the incident the
matter.”
Neighbours’ reaction
When Vanguard visited the couple’s residence,
neighbours alleged that the suspect was always
attacking them, particularly the women. One of
them, who spoke on the condition of anonymity,
said: “We have suffered untold pains in the hands
of Jimoh but this is the height. “The most
painful aspect of it is that his parents are always
supporting him. If you attempt to call the police,
they will threaten to issue you quit notice.by chibabynaija1

Bricklayer accused of robbery dies few weeks after being tortured
Bricklayer accused of robbery,
dies few weeks after being
tortured (Photo)
A bricklayer, Adeleke Oyadara, has been tortured
to death in Kujore, Iwelepe, in the Sagamu area
of Ogun State, after he was accused of robbery.
According to Punch Metro, a businesswoman,
identified only as Bolanle, had claimed that she
was robbed by the deceased on September 10.
Bolanle, around 8pm of the next day, was alleged
to have gone to Adeleke’s house with some
hoodlums.
They were said to have descended on the 50-
year-old and beaten him to a pulp before putting
him in a truck they brought.
Punch correspondent learnt that on the way, the
group was intercepted by some vigilance group
members, who took the case to the Sagamu
Police Division.
The victim was said to have been referred to a
hospital, and died a few weeks later. The
victim’s wife, Toyin, said her husband was taken
away from the house around 8pm on September
11.
She said,
“On that day, a man knocked on our door around
8pm. Suddenly, a woman, who had hid behind
him, emerged, and held my husband by the
waist.
She claimed that my husband robbed her in a
cab the previous day. My husband denied it and
my attempt to explain that my husband was with
me throughout that day fell on deaf ears.
The man slapped my husband. They dragged him
to where they parked their truck and five
hoodlums came down and beat him to a pulp and
drove off with him.”
One of the victim’s children, Emmanuel, said he
reported at the Sagamu Police Division, adding
that he was writing his report when the group
brought his father to the station.
“The police referred us to a hospital for
treatment,” he added.
Emmanuel said his father was admitted at the
hospital for about a month before he was taken
back home due to the hospital bills, which the
family could not afford.
The son said he was later taken to the Olabisi
Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.
“While on admission, the woman wrote a petition
to the State Criminal Investigation and
Intelligence Department, Eleweran. The
policemen there demanded that we brought my
father from the hospital because they thought he
was pretending.
He was at the SCIID when he collapsed and we
took him back to the hospital. He died on
Saturday, October 15,” he added.
Punch correspondent learnt that the police had
arrested one of the hoodlums that carried out
the attack on the victim, while the woman was
said to be on the run.
The family said it had already briefed its lawyer,
one Moses Bamgbelu.
“We want the government and Nigerians to help
us. We want justice. My dad told me before he
died that he had never seen those people in his
life. The police also said their investigation
showed that my father didn’t commit the
offence. He was a bricklayer,” Emmanuel said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola
Oyeyemi, said it was a case of suspected
robbery turned murder.
He said,
“From the information available to us, the victim
was a cab driver and he was taking the woman
to a place. He overheard her discussing about a
N1m contract on the telephone. So, he thought
she had that money on her.
He drove into a bush and threatened her with
pliers. He searched her bag and found N50,000,
which he took and fled.
The woman raised the alarm and people
gathered around her. She told them what
happened and described the cab. Those people
traced it to the man’s house where he was found
and beaten. He was rescued by the police.
The case was reported as robbery and was
transferred to the SCIID. The man was taken to
a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he died.
It has now become a murder case. The woman’s
lawyer has been shielding her from arrest, but
investigation is ongoing into the case.”by chibabynaija1

British woman narrates how she travelled to Nigeria to meet scammer who duped her
When Maria Grette first discovered that the 58-
year-old Danish man with whom she had fallen in
love was actually a 24-year-old Nigerian 419
internet scammer, the 62-year-old Swede was
distraught. But, soon, her feelings changed.
"The most terrible thing was not that he had
cheated me, but that he had lost his innocence,"
she said.
She became consumed with what she describes
as "a profound need to make a difference to the
people of Nigeria".
Ms Grette's relationship with Johnny (not his real
name) began after an evening of fun and games
with her girlfriends, during which they playfully
created a profile for her on an online dating
website. A few years before, she had gone
through a traumatic divorce, and her friends
teased her about finally starting a new
relationship.
But when the fun of creating her profile was
over, Ms Grette, who works as an arts teacher,
painter and arts therapist, didn't give much
further thought to the website.
"I received messages telling me that people had
contacted me, but I never looked at them," she
said.
Then, one day, she did.
"I still don't know why," she said. "It was like a
sudden impulse happening before I could stop
it."
That particular message was from a man who
described himself as a Dane raised in South
Carolina, USA; a civil engineer working on a
contract in England; a widower with a son in a
Manchester university.
"I was caught up by the atmosphere and by
something in his words," she said.
The preamble
Johnny: "I wish I could see through your eyes
and see what you like to see"
Maria: "I like to see the truth, and often the truth
is more beautiful and greater than people dare to
realize"
Johnny: "You talk in parable´s. I can´t wait to
see you"
Maria: "I cant understand how you can think so
dedicated of me, when you have never met me.
That scares me."
"We spent some time writing, then he called from
a UK number."
Ms Grette, who had lived in different countries
across Europe, was surprised that she could not
place the man's accent. She mentioned this to
him but didn't give it too much thought.
He told her that he was planning for his
retirement; had Sweden in mind for a place to
settle; owned a house in Denmark inherited from
his parents; wanted to leave that to his son,
Nick, who was very attached to it, while he
looked for a new home for himself in Sweden.
"I wanted to meet him because I liked him," she
said. "He had a way and a sweetness I had never
known in a man before. And he was innocent in a
way that puzzled me."
Ms Grette put all these qualities down to "an old
fashioned upbringing and an isolated life - living
in hotels and spending his free time on golf
courses owing to much travelling".
After three months of communicating, the man
agreed to come over and visit her in Sweden.
But before that, he and his son needed to make
a quick trip to Nigeria for a job interview, he said.
Johnny called to let her know that he was at
Heathrow Airport. And to say that he had landed
in Nigeria. He also got her to speak with Nick.
The next phone call was to tell her that he was
in a Lagos hospital.
They had been mugged, his son shot in the head,
and they were without money and papers.
Unfortunately, his bank did not have a branch in
Africa, he added, so it would take time to
transfer money from his UK account. Meanwhile,
the hospital management was requesting €1000
to proceed with treatment.
The request
"Honey, I am in the hospital right now using the
doctor´s laptop to send you this message so you
can know my situation. Honey, if Nick dies I will
also die with him, I have been crying, I wish I
could call you, I wish I never came here, I will
never forgive myself for bringing Nick along with
me. I will call you with the doctor´s phone and
send you an email later if I have the chanse.
"Honey, I am happy to hear from you and I am
still at the hospital. The doctor said we where
lucky we where not kidnapped. The bank does
not have a location in Africa, so it will take time
to get money and the management are
requesting 1000 euros to proceed with
treatment. Nick is all I have got and I will not
forgive myself if anything happens to him. I am
confused, and I do not know where to turn at the
moment......"
"I will never forget how I rushed to the Western
Union office, trembling while I did the transfer,"
Ms Grette said.
"All I could think of was to get the two persons
in Nigeria out of danger."
The plot developed after that initial transfer.
Medical complications called for more money.
The doctors demanded more advance fees.
Several thousands of euro later, in what she
describes as "coming to her senses", Maria
realised that something was amiss.
She stopped responding to his messages.
Three weeks after her silence, he called her and
confessed. He told her that he was not who she
thought he was.
"I said I already knew that. I asked him to tell
me his true identity and he did."
He was a 24-year-old Nigerian 419 scammer. He
had finished university two years earlier but had
no job.
He further described himself as a "devil" who
had wronged "a lovely woman".
"He said he had never met anyone like me
before, that he had been fighting his feelings for
me for a long time. He said his scamming mates
had warned him about falling in love with a
'client', that he had ignored them because he
trusted me and did not want to lose contact with
me."
The reveal
From this point on, their communication took a
new turn. There were no further requests for
cash.
"The attraction I started feeling was to the
person who was revealing himself to me... It
was still him, but with a new name and different
age and circumstances," she said.
Johnny sent her a photograph of himself, but
Maria was not satisfied with that.
"I wanted to meet him," she said. "I could not
live with this relationship unless it was adjusted
to reality in all senses."
Unable to get him a visa to travel to Sweden, she
made up her mind to go to Nigeria.
In October 2009, Ms Grette travelled to Africa for
the first time in her life.
"When I saw him at the airport in Abuja, tears fell
over his face, and I knew I had known him all my
life."
Ms Grette described her two weeks in Nigeria as
blissful, a period during which she and Johnny
succeeded in transforming their romantic feelings
for each other into a good friendship.
She met his friends, many of whom were also
scammers. It was while enjoying their company
one night in a local bar that she began to wonder
how she could make a difference.
"I asked myself what I could do to prevent a
situation where healthy, good young men fall into
this trap," she said.
An idea came to her two years later, in 2011,
after she saw an article on a Nigerian news
website about an arts exhibition.
Over the past six years, Ms Grette has arranged
for a number of African artists to visit Europe for
arts exhibitions, workshops, conferences and
competitions.
She has assisted them to source international
grants and other funding to advance their work.
She has also visited Uganda to give talks on art,
and is looking forward to another visit to Nigeria
scheduled for later this year.
Ms Grette, now 69 and living in Norway, is elated
at the opportunity to improve the lives of these
young artists.
"Johnny has given me more than he took," she
said, "Without him, I would not have met Africa."
When she'd visited him in Abuja, Johnny
promised Ms Grette that he would give up
scamming.
With her assistance, he left Nigeria shortly
afterwards, to study in America.
Although they have not met each other again
since, she continued to provide him with financial
assistance until he completed his degree a few
years ago and got a job in the American oil
sector.
They still communicate frequently, updating
themselves on each other's lives; and last year,
he bought one of her paintings which she
shipped over to him in America.
"He is very dear to me," she said.
"He has asked me so many times to forgive him
and I told him that the most important thing is to
forgive himself."By chibabynaija1
Star times manager died in fire accident few months to wedding
A Startimes Operations Manager in Minna, Niger
state named Damilare Oladapo Oluwafeyisan, 35
gruesomely passed away on Monday, 17th,
October, 2016 after suffering a severe fire
accident from an electric generator explosion.
According to his fiancée - Miss Temitope
Makinde who spoke to Tori News, Mr. Oluseyisan
fondly called Dre was assisting his neighbour to
switch off the seemingly faulty generating set
around 12:15am on Sunday, the 16th of October
when the device inexplicably caught fire which
rapidly spread across his body.
Dre writhed in unbearable anguish as efforts
were made to put off the fire that had enveloped
his entire body sparing his face alone.
The victim was swiftly rushed to the General
Hospital Minna, Niger state where he finally gave
up the ghost at 9:30pm the following day
(Monday) due to the alleged negligence,
inadequate medical apparatus and gross
incompetence of medical officials on duty.
Miss Temitope who narrated the tortuous ordeal
of Dre to Tori News amidst uncontrollably tears
and gnashing of teeth believes the hospital
apparently exacerbated the already critical
condition of her lover, who was already making
frantic preparations to marry her in May, 2017.
"My Dre shouldn't have died at all. No
doctor was available to treat him. The
available nurses only placed him on drips
with no concrete treatment procedures
while he laboured to survive in excruciating
distress" Temitope said in a heavy voice.
"In fact, you will not believe the hospital
had no drugs at all and other medical kits
for accident victims. The nurses kept
referring us to buy stuffs outside the
hospital premises" she continued.
When Tori News probed further about the depth
of the medical treatment, she revealed painkillers
were administered to him to suppress his
turbulent health condition but they proved
ineffectual as the patient remained totally
unstable.
"He laid on his sick bed scantily clad at an
open ward in the full glare of the public
after his burned skin was peeled. His
clothes and bed sheets had to be changed
recurrently as they were always drenched in
his body fluids"
"He became an object of sympathy as
different people stared at his severe skin
burns with compassion"
"What hurts me most is that no doctor was
available to attend to my fiancé as he
started to die slowly due to loss of energy"
After deliberations, Dre's eldest brother – Tunde,
Temitope and other loved ones who were with
him at the emergency ward decided to transfer
him to a standard hospital in Abuja with improved
medical facilities as his resounding cries rented
the air of the ward without adequate medical
attention.
Their decision was impeded by a bureaucratic
procedure - authorized referral letter from the
medical doctor in charge who was nowhere near
his office from the afternoon period till the
evening thereby leaving the hapless Dre to the
cold hands of death.
According to Temitope, all efforts to reach the
medical doctor proved futile till Dre gradually
started dying.
The handsome and promising young man who
observed his National Youth Service programme
alongside Temitope in the year 2011 at Akwete,
Ukwa East Local Government Area - Abia State
was finally pronounced dead at 9:30pm on
Monday after he lost consciousness.by chibabynaija1

Quarrel between two ladies over one boyfriend
She said she will expose & send
my nudes to all the blogs in
Lagos
A confused lady sent this very interesting story
to Socialite and psychologist Joro Olumofin.
According to the lady, she has never had any
reason to doubt her boyfriend until a girl started
calling and chatting her up to leave 'her
boyfriend' or she will expose her and send her
nudes to blogs. Read the story after the cut
and also see screenshots from their chat.
"I'm in shock!!!! And I need advise from
strangers on this issue. I won't lie, I love
him regardless. I've been trying to reach
him but his phone is unavailable.
I just moved back to Nigeria not up to 8
months now, I met this guy who has
been supportive to me. His name is
chudi, I thought he was different for an
Igbo guy, he's sweet and caring. We
started dating, I've taken to meet my
family, he has taken me to meet his
elder sister and his mom too. Everything
seemed cool, he doesn't have passwords
to his phone, he seem really legit. Like I
won't lie at all. I've never suspected he
had someone else.
I received the shocker of my life when I
received a message from this rude
obviously razz yoruba lady claiming to be
Chudi's girlfriend. I've researched this
girl, the chudi I know won't even look at
her talkless of dating her or anything.
She threatened me and called me all
sorts of names. She said they have been
dating for 2 years or so. She said she
will expose me to all the blogs in Lagos.
I'm so confused, I haven't spoken to him.
But a part of me is not bothered about
the outcome, I love him either way. I
feel I should fight for him.
The thought of me being a sidechick is
hurtful giving that my last relationship
ended badly, my ex left me for another
girl after he took me ring sight-seeing /
shopping.
Please I need advise Joro. What should I
do? What should I ask chudi? This girl
has called my phone 📱 34 times! I'm
not even joking. She's claiming to have
my nudes and release them. I'm new in
Lagos. What should I do? Find attached

Nuc scraps pre-degree and diploma programmes o Nigeria university
Pre-degree and diploma programmes in Nigerian
universities have been scrapped.
The National Universities Commission (NUC),
which took the action, instructed them to leave
the running of such programmes for
polytechnics and concentrate effort on
producing human capital in the core
undergraduate, part-time and post-graduate
courses.
Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof.
Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, gave this order at
meetings held between October 10 and 12 with
vice chancellors of the 143 universities in the
country, according to a statement by the NUC
yesterday.
He also directed that the research directorate
of NUC be strengthened to work with those of
universities. This is to co-ordinate research
activities in universities and ensure relevance of
their outputs. He said the NUC, would engage a
mix of old, experienced and young vibrant
academics to come up with curricula that
would not only be dynamic and responsive to
national needs, but also conform to global
trends.
The statement continued: “A comprehensive
review of the entire university curricula (the
Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards
(BMAS)) and ranking of Nigerian universities
have also been scheduled for 2017, while two
of the cardinal activities of the commission,
accreditation of programmes and resource
verification, will now take place only twice and
thrice a year, respectively: May and November
for accreditation as well as March, July and
December for resource verification.”
NUC also warned that any university that failed
to present its programmes for accreditation
promptly without satisfactory reasons, given
well in advance, would be denied same and the
relevant agencies (JAMB and NYSC) duly
notified.

Pastor Orders Female Members not to wear pant to church
Indeed wonders shall never end, especially as
we are approaching the much anticipated end
time:As you read this, a controversial pastor has
told ladies attending his church not to wear
underwear so they can feel closer to God. The
strange order was issued to female members by
Reverend Njohi.
Female congregants were forbidden from
wearing bras and pants to service at Reverend
Njohi’s church, a ministry known as Lord’s
Propeller Redemption Church.
The pastor openly warned that there would be
grave consequences for any female member who
fails to adhere strictly to his new order.
Surprising, most of the women in his church
adhered to the order as ladies were are said to
have attended service with no underwear, leaving
their breast dangling…
Reverend Njohi, whose church is located in
Nairobi, Kenya, according to Kenyan Post, said
ladies need to feel free in their ‘mind and body’
while in church for “easy access of the spirit”.
Why is it that some pastors just like taking
advantage of their church members?.by Chibabynaija1

FUTA undergrad who bragged
about raping girls on Facebook
claims his account was hacked
Yesterday, Tobi Medal, a FUTA undergraduate
trended on social media for teaching guys how
to rape girls who play 'hard to get'. When the
story went viral, he deactivated his Facebook
account. Click HERE if you missed it
Now he is back, but this time is insisting he
never made the posts which got him in hot
water. He is alleging his account was hacked.
Continue after the cut. Please people, social
media is more powerful than we can ever
imagine. Use it wisely
I was just in school today going on with my
normal life, I was at the school hostel (Akindeko)
to charge my phone and take my drugs (the
once I was given earlier at the health centre
after going to complain about my medical
condition) until i got a call from my sister via
mom's phone. First she asked me what's wrong
with me, I didn't understand, again she asked
why would I deliberately get myself in trouble by
writing rubbish on facebook, I still didn't
understand, then she said I should check my
facebook account.
I immediately rushed to my phone and logged in
via free facebook for airtel, and I saw all the
whole trending news about a post made with my
facebook on a closed group about "rape". I'm
urging everyone to debunk such news as I never
made such, my account was hacked into.
The last time I logged in was yesterday evening
after running out of data. The perpetrators even
chat with some of my friends.
I'm a totally gentle and God fearing young man,
I'm 20 and i can tell the whole world I've never
been involved in any sexual assault with any
lady, even in school no girl have ever even come
into my room since 100level and with full
confidence I'll say any lady in this world and
beyond should come out and tell everyone with
evidence.
I've taken proper steps by reporting immediately
to the student affairs and I've been told to bring
a letter of complaints tomorrow. So i urge all my
friends and family to relax, it's all under control.
Please no one should call me to ask anything.

I stole my boss 1.3million to build house for my family
20-year-old Uweb Samuel, a Cross River State
indigene working as a domestic help in Magodo
area of Lagos, sat on the grounds of the Lagos
State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, with
his head bowed. Shaking his head intermittently
to register remorse, Uweb said he did not
imagine he would end up the way he had.
“My boss trusted me so much. In fact, I had
access to every part of the house,” he said.
But that trust came back to bite his boss, Mr.
Ajadi Babatunde, few days ago when he came
back from a trip abroad and left a wad of pound
sterling notes in his room. Saturday PUNCH
learnt that he trusted his manservant so much
that he left the house but left his key on the
door of his room...
That day, Babatunde took a peek inside the
room and saw something he could not resist.
“I counted the £50 notes and there were 67
there,” he said.
That is £3,350. In current official exchange rate
of pounds to naira, that amounts to
N1.33m.Samuel said he knew it was a lot of
money that could change his life, but thought
about building a house immediately.
He said, “There is no house in our village
in Calabar that my siblings and I could
call a home. So, I thought it was my
chance to build a house for my family.
“I took the money before my boss came
back home and took it to my sister’s
husband to hide for me.
“When my boss came back and started
to look for the money, he asked me and
I told him I did not see any money. Even
though it was just the two of us in the
house, I insisted I did not take any
money.
“Some workers were doing some
renovation work in the compound. He
asked if any of them entered the house
but they said no. The workers said I
must have been the one who took the
money and started to beat me.
“They tortured me even though my boss
did not instruct them to do that. I still
did not admit that I took it. But when it
got to a stage, I told them I would kill
myself, my boss then told them to take
me to the police. But his brother came
and spoke with me gently, that was why
I decided to confess.”
By the time the police stormed the house of
Samuel’s brother-in-law, half of the money was
gone, while the man had gone into hiding.
Samuel sobbed as he said he was sad that he
betrayed his boss’ trust.
According to him, he was being paid N15,000
monthly as a domestic help but that his crime
had nothing to do with his salary.
“I wish my boss would forgive me. I did
not know this is what will happen to
me,” he said.
The police have said investigation was ongoing
on the case and the suspect would soon be
charged to court.

Man impregnates teen daughter for rituals , continue sleeping with her after abortion
RA 40-year-old man, Hafizu Isyaku, has allegedly
impregnated his 13-year-old daughter in a move
to satisfy the requirements of his cult group for
a ritual purpose.
To compound the woes of his wife and mother of
the girl, the man continues sleeping with his
daughter after getting the pregnancy aborted.
The wife and mother of the girl, Maryam Manta,
disclosed this to newsmen at her Kabala Doki
residence in Kaduna, saying the incident
occurred at Tudun Wada, Maraba, near Abuja
where she resided before relocating to Kaduna.
She said she got to know about her daughter’s
pregnancy when she returned from a three-month
journey. She said,
“When I returned from my journey where I went
to see my parents, I noticed my daughter was
sick and was behaving strangely.
Earlier, I didn’t suspect anything because my
husband constantly gave her some concoctions
to drink, claiming it was going to heal her. When
the sickness persisted and I noticed my daughter
had missed her period, I questioned and
threatened her to tell me if she had any affair
with any man. Eventually, she opened up to me
that her father had been having canal knowledge
of her while I was away.
“When I confronted my husband, he cried and
confessed joining a cult which mounted pressure
on him to get his daughter pregnant and then
abort it as a sacrifice. I became confused and
wept profusely but when he promised to
disassociate himself from the cult, I went
together with him to the hospital where the
pregnancy was aborted.”
Speaking further, she said she found out that
after the abortion, her husband was still having
sexual intercourse with his daughter. “I caught
him red handed in the very act. I became
heartbroken and absconded from his home in
Maraba and returned to Kaduna with my six
children.
When I arrived Kaduna, I reported the issue to
the District Head of Kabala Doki, Danlami Bawa,
who invited my husband for some discussions.”
She said she had filed a court case at the Sharia
Magistrate court, Magajin-Gari in Kaduna for the
full custody of her six children, alleging that
Hafizu, her husband had constantly visited and
threatened her and the children. “He wants to
seize the children from me,” she alleged.
As at the time of filing this report, Hafizu, who is
an electronics dealer at Maraba market could not

shop under a small keg that would be partly
filled with a liquid substance, with the threat
that she would be killed if she refused to act
accordingly.
The deceased, who traded in wine and liquor,
was said to have reported the threat to the
police at a
nearby police station where her statement was
taken.
NigerianTribune reports that they gathered from
a reliable source who craved anonymity that to
the woman’s consternation, a couple of days
after she reported the case at the police
station, she noticed a keg half-filled with petrol
by her shop, which raised her fears that her
callers meant business.
This was said to have taken her back to the
police station where she reported, for the
second time, what she saw at her shop,
prompting detectives to follow her to the scene
where they took the photograph of the keg.
The police officers on duty were said to have
drafted a patrol team to the woman’s shop to
be stationed there to prevent anything
untoward.
Metro further gathered that this was the
situation until last Thursday when the patrol
team had to leave the spot after 9.00 p.m. as a
result of a distress call it got to move to
another troubled spot.
While the patrol team was manning the second
spot, Metro learnt that the deceased called the
operatives to inform them that she got a call
from the unknown people who challenged her
for involving the police over the issue of
dropping N20,000.
The patrol team was said to have left where it
was immediately but before it could get back to
the woman’s shop, she had been shot.
Three men who rode on a motorcycle were said
to have stopped in front of her shop where she
sat with husband and children, when one of the
men got down from bike, went into her shop,
pulled a gun from his shirt and shot her.
Though she was rushed to Victory Hospital,
Sango-Eleyele Road, Ibadan for treatment,
Metro learnt that she died while receiving
medical attention.
The manner of killing raised the belief of some
friends and sympathisers that the woman was a
victim of assassination, going by the incidents
before her murder and the fact that nothing
was taken from her shop by the assailants.
When contacted, the state Police Public
relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed
the killing, saying that the police suspected
armed robbery.
“Police received information at about 9:50p.m.
The hoodlums probably went there to rob but
could not complete their action and then
became agitated to escape. They did not take
anything away. The deceased’s body was
thereafter moved to the morgue at Alafia
Hospital, Mokola, Ibadan,” Ajisebutu stated.
He also disclosed that the state Commissioner
of Police, Sam Adegbuyi, visited the family on
Friday, September 30 to offer his condolences,
and had assured that the culprits would be
fished out.
The Commissioner of Police has also directed
that the case be transferred to the State
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation,”

he could no longer cope with the foul smell from

everywhere in the house to smell.
