The Kwara State Police Command has
arrested two suspected cult members,
who confessed to drugging their victims
before killing and dispossessing them of
their belongings.
The duo, Sijibomi Adeniyi and John
Onucho made the confession when the
police in Ilorin paraded them. They were
also accused of being members of Eiye
confraternity who were allegedly
involved in the recent killing of two
persons in Ilorin.
The Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi, who paraded
the suspects before newsmen along with
three others arrested for criminal
conspiracy and theft of vehicles, said the
suspects added a painkiller called
“tramadol” to a soft drink, which he
used to drug his victim before
committing the crime.
“In a bid to arrest perpetrators of the
last cult clashes in Ilorin which led to the
killing of two young men, the command
in addition to suspects earlier arrested
and charged to court also picked up
Adeniyi Sijibomi (18) and John Onucho
(25) last week, with the arms used in the
dastardly act.”
The PPRO said two locally made pistols,
two live cartridge and one expended
cartridges were recovered from the
suspects.”
Speaking further, he said “In another
development, on August 17 based on a
complaint made by one Bidemi Adewole
of Sapati Ile area Ilorin, two suspects
Adeniyi Sijibomi and Tosin David of the
same area and members of a cult group
conspired to kill the complainant using a
poison laden Lacasera drink. The
suspects confessed committing the act
with a view to dispossessing her of her
sales proceeds.”
Also paraded by the police were three
car snatchers, Kehinde Olumo, Alhaji
Oba Suleiman and Olayinka Jimoh who
allegedly conspired to steal and buy
stolen cars.
The police image maker said the suspects
specialised in removing engraved wind
screen, and rear glasses of stolen cars
and replacing them with new ones be
fore selling to unsuspecting members of
the public.
“Through the intensified efforts of the
men of the command’s Intelligence and
Investigation Department, members of
interstate vehicles thieves especially
from Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States were
arrested at Ilorin on August 17 by the
Anti-Car Theft Unit of the command.”
Okasanmi said investigation revealed
that the suspects were confirmed car
